The Weinberg is a rip off!
All weddings are stressful but working with a bad vendor whos only motive is to squeeze as much money out of you as possible, is not something i wish on anyone.
When the Weinberg at Wixon tells you they are flexible and will work with your budget, let me tell you what they really mean.
You have two choices:
- 1) Pay 4 times what you would expect to pay anywheer else for a small wedding, OR,
- 2) Pay 4 times what you would expect to pay anywhere else for a large wedding!
- 3) To paraphrase, "Ok Mr Money Bags, just give me all your money!"
Everything they say on their website about working with you and working with your budget is a lie.
Let me explain. I was asked to cover alcohol by the father of the bride and i agreed. Having had a couple of weddings before this, i had an expectation of what i was getting into. Boy was i wrong!
Most other venues have reasonable options for alcohol. The options I have used in the past for weddings are:
- 1) Bring your own booze and pay an uncorking fee
- 2) Pay for a set number of bottles or kegs or cases at slightly higher than retail,
- 3) Pay by the drink like you would at a bar.
- 4) Cash bar and everyone pays their own way
- 5) or any combination of these options
There are usually other fees as well like possibly bar tenders, mixers, cups, napkins, straws, water security and so on.
